Wonder: Prolouge

"OH. MY. GOD. This pain is almost unendurable!"Anna yelled at Jackie, although she could clearly tell, was not paying an ounce of attention. She looked at her reflection through the glass window. She looked pretty funny sitting in a bus seat, all crouched up with two fingers on each temple. Immediately she took her hand away from her temples and straightened out her long thin torso. as soon as she did this she felt the searing pain make it's way back to her brain and started clenching, like before, but only worse.
Anna knew something like this was going to happen. The moment she woke up and her the cold, hard drops of rain, burst on to her roof, she knew her day was going to be terrible. she always had terrible days when it rained. It felt like, to her, that she had some kind of connection with the weather, not to which she controls it, but to where it controls her. And now she was immpossibly sure that this was her fate for the day. An unbearable headache, but was she right. She had no time to waste on that thought so she pushed it aside for the moment and soon forgot. Because right now she needed to call her mom.
"Jackie, please let me see your phone?" She meant it as a demand, but her kindness made it a question.
"Why do you need to see it anyway?" she replied with a face that made Anna want to slap her right then and there, but she didn't.
"I need to call my mom though!" she tried to act calm but her anger was turning her face an ugly red. Jackie saw her expression and warily handed her the black and blue cell phone.
"Fine but give it back right after!" Jackie's little speech impediment disgusted Anna. and before she dialed in her mom's number, she mumbled under her breath "what a bitch." As she dialed in the 10 digit home phone number, she couldn't think about anything else besides her headache, when her mom picked up on the last ring, she felt relieved and told her mom to pick her up at her bus stop. When she arrived she noticed she was a bit early because it was 4:37 and her mom wouldn't be there until 5:00.
"UGH" she yelled out in disbelief as she waited and waited in the muggy afternoon. all alone. almost at dark. she was suddenly scared, until she look over at a nearby fence and saw a beautiful cardinal chirping cheerfully, completely unaware of the fact that it was supposed to be in it's nest just like all the other birds. Then suddenly the bird stopped chirping and looked over at Anna, she stopped pacing on the muggy sidewalk and stared in to the eyes of the beautiful but wild bird. her headache stopped in it's tracks, but that's when her world started to go black.
